A Dreamy Woodstock Wedding For The Madly In-Love
In the theme of throw-back Thursday we wanted to feature one of our most loved and fun weddings we had the pleasure of flowering a few moons ago. Nestled in the seaside landscape of Lantzville on Vancouver Island is a gorgeous private property that was transformed into a modern day Woodstock Festival Wedding, featuring Nikki & Parker - the two madly in love, gypsy-drifter babes that would give Bonnie and Clyde a run for their money any day!
Nikki, the stunning bride found us (previously known as Yellow Point Blooms) through the Cedar Farmer's Market in Yellow Point. We were set up at the Market every Sunday hustling free formed home-grown flower arrangements and one-of-a-kind potted plants. Our style at the time was very laid back, organic and a little 'hippie' you could say. Nikki and her mom knew that our style was exactly what she was envisioning for her Woodstock themed wedding.
Having never been to Woodstock myself (unfortunately), I knew I had to do some research to figure out exactly what flowers from Woodstock would look like. So the first thing I did was dig out one of my favourite records, the actual recording of the Woodstock festival on vinyl and I listened to it on repeat for hours! One thing you should know about flowers is that yes, they are beautiful but ... beauty aside, they should speak to you. They should leave you feeling a certain way. Perhaps, with a sense of nostalgia or maybe even a peacefulness, or in this case a sense of free-spirited unconditional love and whimsy.
For Nikki and Parker's wedding we chose all locally and organically grown flowers by yours truly. We wanted to feature some wild flowers that aren't typically seen in wedding florals but grow wild here on the island and in other parts of the world. Some of the feature florals included Ferns, Chrysanthemums, Snapdragons, Queen Annes Lace, Gyp and Zulu Prince Daisies.
From the perfectly curated Woodstock decor that featured dream catchers blowing in the trees, vintage trucks and motorcycles, a real hippie van, fun picnic tables and a food truck dinner, the stunning wedding party and obviously the flowers - we're sure this is a wedding we will never forget! Peace and love forever and ever, Xx.
